Lasting Power of Attorney

What is a Lasting Power of Attorney?

A Lasting Power of Attorney (LPA) is a legal document that lets you choose trusted people — your attorneys — to make decisions on your behalf if you ever lose the ability to do so yourself. There are two types: one for health and welfare, one for property and financial affairs. You can make one or both. Every LPA must be registered with the Office of the Public Guardian before it can be used, and we handle that process for you.

Common questions

Clear answers, without pressure

Are you part of the government?

No. Beagle Legal is an independent paid service and is not affiliated with the Office of the Public Guardian or the government.

Can I apply for free?

Yes. You can register an LPA directly with the Office of the Public Guardian yourself — you'd pay their £184 registration fee per LPA. Our £99 per document fee is for preparing the documents, checking everything, and guiding you through the process.

Do savings affect an LPA?

No. Making an LPA is the same whatever your financial situation. Your attorneys only act if you lose the ability to make those decisions yourself — while you have capacity, you stay fully in charge.
